Directions:
Read "Growing Vegetable Soup" by Lois Ehlert. Plant your garden with your child using your favorite vegetable starts or seeds and the Garden To Go kit. Help them design the layout of the garden. Have them dig the holes, put the seeds in and cover them up. Have the children predict what is going to happen to those seeds.
Here are some extensions:
1. Have them water them. This teaches them the science concept: Every living thing needs three things: water, sunlight and air.
2. Measure the plants weekly and chart the progress. This teaches the child measurement and charting. It also teaches them the different growth of different plants. Why does carrotts grow faster than potatoes?
